KNIGHT, Harold
KNIGHT, Harold Arthur (Hank) January 2, 1922 - January 5, 2012 Hank passed away peacefully at the age of 90 at Brandt’s Creek Mews in Kelowna. He is survived by his loving wife Pat, son David (Chris) and grandchildren Carleigh Martel and Patrick Knight. Sadly, his daughter Diane predeceased him in 2007. Hank and Pat celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary on October 31, 2011. Hank is also survived by sister-in-law Jackie Hermon and brother-in-law Hamish Hermon and their children Brian and Elaine (Regan) and Hank’s nieces Judy and Marilyn. Hank served overseas in WWII with RCAF #6 Bomber Group. He graduated UBC Vancouver and taught school at General Wolfe, John Oliver and Magee until his retirement at age 60. For 25 years Hank was a member of the Hollyburn Gyro Club. He and Pat moved to Kelowna from West Vancouver in 1992 and enjoyed life at the Lexington where they participated in many activities including swimming and playing bridge. They joined Michaelbrook Golf Club and played several times a week. Hank loved golf and liked to recall the time he played Michaelbrook one New Years day. He bragged constantly about Kelowna’s beautiful weather. Besides family, friends and golf, Hank was also passionate about the BC Lions football team. He was an avid fan from 1954 until their Grey Cup victory in November of 2011. During his stay at Brandt’s Creek from August of 2009 until his passing, he enjoyed keeping in touch by telephone with neighbours and friends from the Lexington. He also enjoyed and looked forward to the many visits of dear friends Art and Julie, Bruce and Denise, and Gloria. The Cairds, Caseys and Slinns also visited from out of town when they could. Thanks also to the wonderful staff at Brandt’s Creek Mews. Hank’s kindness and sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him. There will be no service by request.
